Dr. Janis Davis, D.C.

I am a seasoned Chiropractor of 31 years, since graduating in 1988 from New York Chiropractic College.  I earned my Post-Graduate degree in Sports Injuries and maintained a private practice in New York for 16 years before moving to Florida.  I am also certified to practice Acupuncture, earning my degree from the University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine.

After graduation in 1988, I began teaching undergraduate Biology, and labs in Embryology, Physiology and Genetics at New York Institute of Technology.  I then became a clinician for New York Chiropractic College while maintaining my home office.

When NYCC relocated to upstate New York, I began teaching at University of Bridgeport College of Chiropractic, teaching multiple courses in diagnosis and also became a clinician, before moving to the east coast of Florida.

On the east coast I worked with veterinarians as a consultant educating and administering the benefits of Chiropractic care and other Complementary Alternative procedures on the canine, feline and equine communities.  While there, I volunteered to work on the horses and was pursuing becoming a trainer for the organization, Horses and the Handicapped.  This is an organization that allow and teaches handicapped children to ride horses proving fun as well as physical rehabilitation to them  This was very gratifying to me to see the children’s happy faces. I then moved to the west coast and while here, I also became certified by the State of Florida to provide services in SW Florida Free Pain Clinic run by Christian Medical Ministries.  It is fulfilling to work there volunteering my services to the only free medical clinic associated with a church.

Although the majority of care I provide is Chiropractic based techniques, I am also well versed in many Complementary and Alternative Therapies and techniques that are integrated into the many management plans of today.  Some of these procedures include:  Electro-Therapeutic Point Stimulation, Trigger Point Therapy, Neural Kinetic Integrative Techniques, Neuro-Mechanical Techniques, Exercise Rehabilitation, Resistance Training, Aromatherapy, Music Therapy, Reiki, Nutrition, Chinese Herbology, and of course Acupuncture.

My diverse work experience has allowed me to comfortably walk in three distinct worlds: clinical, business and educational.  I am a very passionate woman who has dedicated my career to continued improvement of Alternate practices, on human and animals in both academic education and in private practice.  I have lectured on a variety of topics related to Complementary and Alternative Techniques and Practices at the University level.  I have been an Adjunct full time Professor at Everglades University, both online and onsite at the Sarasota campus.
